Job Summary

Provides executive financial leadership for the Institutional segment, supporting business strategy, product performance, and value-added solutions to drive sustainable growth and profitability. Accountable for financial oversight, analysis, and communication of results to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with enterprise financial objectives. Directs budgeting, financial performance monitoring, and regulatory compliance while partnering with segment and enterprise leaders. Builds organizational capability and ensures disciplined execution of initiatives that enhance customer value, operational efficiency, and long-term business results.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead financial strategy and performance for the segment. Partners with segment leadership to develop and monitor business strategy and tactical plans; ensures financial objectives, pricing strategies, and performance metrics align with customer needs, market conditions, and enterprise goals.
  • Oversee financial analysis, reporting, and compliance. Directs financial monitoring and analysis of product line profitability (GAAP, statutory, value-added); communicates financial results to senior leadership. Establishes and maintains policies, processes, and controls to ensure regulatory and enterprise compliance.
  • Support product and value-added solution development. Provides financial leadership and oversight for the development, enhancement, and implementation of value-added products and services; partners with leaders to evaluate innovative concepts and strategies that drive competitive advantage and profitable growth.
  • Direct budgeting, resource management, and operational efficiency. Prepares and manages the segment budget; analyzes results against plan and recommends adjustments as needed. Leads evaluation and prioritization of initiatives considering financial impact, operational efficiency, process redesign, and change management.
  • Build partnerships, talent, and organizational capability. Develops and sustains effective relationships with internal and external partners, including senior leaders. Builds an engaged, accountable, and equitable workforce; monitors industry trends and represents the company in professional forums to strengthen financial insight and organizational effectiveness.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive experience in insurance or financial services, with deep understanding of products, customers, distribution channels, and market dynamics.
  • Senior-level financial leadership experience, including financial analysis, budgeting, profitability management, and executive-level reporting.
  • Advanced financial, actuarial, or investment expertise.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% and operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated, and matrixed environment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
