About Our Client
Our client is a family-owned commercial construction firm with more than 25 years of operation, approximately 210 employees, and roughly $250 million in annual revenue. With offices across Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Texas, the company is a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Historically Underutilized Business (HUB). Built on the belief that great construction starts with great client service, the firm operates on the EOS model and is known for long-tenured teams, transparent financial management, and a culture of accountability at every level. Its dedicated healthcare construction practice serves major health systems and hospital networks across its markets, with projects ranging from medical office builds and interior renovation to ICRA-governed hospital work.
The Opportunity
Our client is hiring two Healthcare Project Managers — one at its Charlotte, NC headquarters and one at its south Forida office. Both roles sit within a dedicated healthcare industry group. Healthcare construction experience is required for both positions and is not considered transferable from other sectors. The compensation package is identical across both markets.
Charlotte, NC
This role supports the healthcare team at our client’s Charlotte headquarters. The Project Manager joins a well-resourced group that includes a Project Executive, Regional Director, Senior Project Manager, and approximately five Assistant Project Managers with direct healthcare experience. Candidates with 3–5 years of project management experience will find strong support and mentorship; a Senior Project Manager background is equally welcome and compensated accordingly toward the top of the range. The role reports to the Regional Director.
South Florida
This is a newly created position tied to active, awarded work. Our client is growing its healthcare practice in the South Florida market and is looking for a Project Manager who can serve as the primary healthcare point person in that office — someone comfortable leading the charge, establishing client relationships, and helping build the practice from a strong foundation. Three to four Assistant Project Managers support the South Florida team. The hired Project Manager will be assigned to active healthcare accounts within 90 days of start. The role reports to the Regional Director.
What You’ll Own
– Day-to-day production management across active healthcare construction projects — typically two concurrent projects; Charlotte Project Managers generally carry approximately $10–13 million in volume; South Florida experience in the $15–20 million project range is preferred, $10 million range considered
– Full project P&L ownership: monthly gross-profit tracking, cost control, and variance reporting to leadership with complete transparency
– Project schedule creation and maintenance, including short-interval schedules for weekly coordination meetings
– Contract writing, invoice approval, and subcontractor payment processing
– Subcontractor coordination and conflict resolution to keep projects on schedule
– Complete document control: shop drawings, submittals, purchase orders, RFIs, lien releases, change orders, as-builts, and manuals
– Weekly reporting in collaboration with the project superintendent
– LEED implementation, tracking, and close-out management
– Ongoing client, architect, engineer, and trade partner relationships — representing our client at the table
– Compliance with all healthcare-specific safety protocols, including ICRA, Bloodborne Pathogen, infection control, and interim life safety measures
What You Bring
– 3–5 years of project management experience in commercial construction; healthcare experience is required and not transferable from other sectors. For South Florida, candidates with more experience who can lead the healthcare effort in that market are preferred
– ICRA certification (training-level sufficient) and Bloodborne Pathogen certification
– Familiarity with state healthcare inspection officials and processes (AHCA, DHHS)
– Personal ownership of change orders, schedules, weekly reports, and day-to-day client communication — candidates from large general contractors should be prepared to speak to direct responsibility rather than delegated tasks
– Strong project P&L literacy: ability to review monthly gross-profit performance and explain variances to leadership
– Experience on ICRA-governed hospital work is a meaningful differentiator; medical office building and renovation experience is also considered
– Comfort managing multiple trades and multiple concurrent projects
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook; strong written and verbal communication skills
– Travel up to approximately 20%: Charlotte projects may extend in-state; South Florida work spans the Miami–Boca Raton corridor

Why Candidates Are Choosing These Roles
A seat at the client table
Our client puts its Project Managers in the room with major health systems — building the relationships that win the next contract. Those who deliver results are advanced to Project Executive without an arbitrary tenure requirement.
Marquee healthcare accounts
The Charlotte practice is built on long-standing relationships with major regional health systems, with projects growing in scale and complexity into ICRA-governed hospital work. The South Florida Project Manager will be assigned to active major health system accounts — including current hospital work, a specialty-unit renovation, and a recently awarded $13 million freestanding emergency department in the pipeline.
Autonomy with genuine support
Our client welcomes process improvements and new ideas. Charlotte offers deep team resources and an experienced Senior Project Manager available for a meaningful handoff period. In South Florida, the firm’s Jacksonville-based project managers serve as a ready network for the new hire.
Transparent financials — no guesswork on bonus
Gross profit is tracked monthly and shared with every employee. Bonus performance is never a mystery: the firm pays on December 15, with a true-up on March 15. Project-based profit sharing is an added upside tied directly to the work you manage.
A familial culture at a growing firm
Our client is a 25-plus-year MBE/HUB-certified family company with roughly $250 million in revenue and a $280 million growth target. Long-tenured employees are the norm, and candidates coming from large general contractors consistently cite the personal acknowledgment they had been missing. Community involvement — scholarship programs, board service, client events — is encouraged during working hours.
